Description:
Difortan is a drug in the form of a gel containing etofamate - an active substance from the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It inhibits the production of factors responsible for inflammation, thus soothing and combating its symptoms, such as pain and swelling. Thanks to local application, it works quickly and the effect lasts for a long time.
Indications:
Difortan can be used in adults to treat: muscle and joint injuries, such as contusions, strains and sprains, and ligament inflammation; rheumatic diseases (rheumatism), such as arthritis and osteoarthritis. Difortan is a drug intended for external use, on the skin, and cannot be used on the eyes or mucous membranes.
It is used in the local treatment of:
- bruises,
- mild and moderate muscle pain,
- post-traumatic pain,
- mild and moderate rheumatic pain,
- mild to moderate joint pain,
- arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis.
Action:
Difortan contains etofenamate, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug for use on the skin, directly on the painful area and has the following effects: analgesic; reducing swelling and inflammation.
How to use:
Wash your hands before and after each use, unless the painful area is on your hands. The medicine is intended for use on intact skin, directly on the painful area. Approximately 2.5 to 5 cm of gel should be used with each application. The medicine should be spread over the entire painful area, rubbing gently. Treatment of muscle or joint injuries, such as bruises, strains and sprains, and ligament inflammation: 3 to 4 applications of Difortan per day for 14 days. Treatment of rheumatic diseases (rheumatism), such as arthritis and osteoarthritis: 2 to 3 applications of Difortan per day. You should notice a reduction in pain and/or inflammation after 3 or 4 days of treatment with Difortan. Do not use Difortan for longer than 14 days in the case of muscle or joint injuries or 21 days in the case of arthritis and joint pain due to degenerative disease, unless your doctor tells you otherwise. If symptoms worsen or do not improve after 7 days of therapy, contact your doctor. If you have liver or kidney problems, contact your doctor as your dose of Difortan may need to be adjusted.
Composition:
1g of gel contains: active substance: etofenamate 100mg. Other ingredients: isopropyl alcohol, glycerol, trolamine, carbomers and purified water.
Contraindications: allergy to the active substance or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Do not use: in pregnant women; on damaged or infected skin, including areas of skin with sores and eczema (a type of dermatitis); in children under 12 years of age.
Warnings and precautions: Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Difortan. Difortan is applied to the skin, directly to the painful area, there is a risk of absorption into the bloodstream, which may cause effects in other parts of the body beyond the site of application. The risk of such an effect is minimal and depends, among other things, on the surface exposed to the drug, the amount used and the exposure time. Particular caution should be exercised when using Difortan: in case of allergy to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for use on the skin; if the area where Difortan was applied is exposed to sunlight, as photodermatosis may occur (an inflammation of the skin that may result in redness and itching at the site of application as a result of exposure to the sun). If one of these symptoms occurs, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately; if the medicine is used in the area of the mucous membrane (for example in the mouth) or eyes; if you have liver or kidney problems.
